So yesterday evening I was undecided, should i go to my meditation group or visit my mother. Should i come home and have dinner with claudy and the kids and helping out with krijn’s homework or visit a group discussing entheogens and grounded spirituality in a ‘share, connect, affect’ setting? “Wat wil jij zelf?” asked claudy. Difficult question. It was the latter, I didn’t feel like drumming up the discipline for sitting meditation or helping krijn again after work. I wanted time for myself, time out. So, to off to the cozy place at the Oude Gracht. “Dan moet je helaas de heerlijke camamberburger met salade missen, en het gezelschap van je gezin” she wrote. I know, sometimes you have to be somewhere else.

It was a good conversation, already over when it started going. I offered my own personal experiences. Somebody related his observation that over time he saw people attending. the same circle again and again in search of the next experience, a retreat in Poland, this and that. Somebody else quoted Alan Watts: “If you get the message, hang up the phone”. A physics student related his views that quantum mechanics theories were just a mere instrumental reflection of deep insight.
